Eury Jr. out as crew chief for Dale Earnhardt Jr.

The much-scrutinized era of Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Tony Eury Jr. is over.

Hendrick Motorsports announced on Thursday that NASCAR’s most popular driver would have a new crew chief beginning with this weekend’s Sprint Cup race at Dover.

Eury Jr., who has been the car chief or crew chief for his cousin for all but part of one season since Earnhardt began the Sprint Cup series in 1999, will be replaced by Lance McGrew on an interim basis beginning with the June 7 race at Pocono.

Team manager Brian Whitesell will serve as the crew chief at Dover. Whitesell and Rex Stump, Hendrick’s lead chassis engineer, will support McGrew on a fulltime basis in hopes of turning around a team that is 19th in points.

“Our performance hasn’t been where it should be,” team owner Rick Hendrick said in a release. “It’s impossible to pin that on any one factor, but a change is the right decision at this point. We have a plan in place, and we’re going to move forward with it.” ESPN

Dale Jr. is just there because of his last name! When Jr. had another crew chief in 2005 and that didn’t help. Therefore, we need Dale Jr. in the sport because all the dumb people that go to the race goes to one of his seven trailers outside the track and buy his stupid hats and shirts!

Although I hate to see this happen, something HAD to change. I believe Dale Jr. needs a whole new crew period. When he comes in the pits, he always loses positions. I am a fan of Dale, Jr.’s & wish him success for the remainder of the season!

JR. STILL WONT PRODUCE GOOD RESULTS.MAYBE THEY SHOULD TRY CHANGING THE DRIVER INSTEAD OF THE CREW CHIEF.

Now all they need to do is find someone that can drive for the #88 car, and the team may be competitive.

People who say he is only in NASCAR because of his last name need to do some research…..he has 18 cup wins and 2 Busch Series Championships…..he is right up there with many of the current drivers. Has he been good the past few years? NO!! But, many of you act like he’s never won…..please…..
